We place every child’s application with the highest priority, and would like to make sure that each child has the opportunity to apply to The Khayay School. We do not accept incomplete applications, so make sure that you have prepared all the necessary documents and have completed the application process.
THE SCHOOL YEAR
The school year is 10 months in length.
The school year starts in August and will end in the last week of May.
The school year is divided into two semesters.
Additionally, the school offers summer schooling in June until the middle of July (half-day classes). This is a separate application process.
We admit students on a rolling basis. However, we encourage parents to submit an application as early as possible to begin the admissions process.
To be considered for enrollment, parents will need to take the following steps:
Submit an Application
During the application period, parents may purchase an application form and submit it to the school. A non-refundable fee of US $20 is due upon the submittal of each student’s application form. You may get an application at our school office, or contact us via email to get the application form. Once you have filled out the form, please submit it directly to the office.
The school will schedule an interview with the parents and applying child, and the Principal. This is a great chance for us to get to know you better, and for you to get to know our Principal and more about our school's philosophy.
Once your child is ready to enroll, a one-time non-refundable registration fee should be settled.
When your child starts his or her first day of school, we will provide an invoice for the tuition fee of the semester.
Khayay School fees do not cover costs for our school snack and lunch, and uniforms.
Snack and Lunch Fee
The school provides a wholly nutritious snack and lunch everyday under the supervision of our school’s certified dietitian. Families will need to provide the monthly fees for the snack and lunch.
Children are required to wear the Khayay School Uniform, which can be purchased at the office.
The school PE shirts can also be purchased in the office.
PTA Cost-Sharing Event Fees
The PTA supports the school’s events and shares the cost of organization. The PTA fee will be announced at the beginning of the school year.
Significant Admission Requirements
At the time of admission, parents must fill out a health form and provide a record of immunizations. Within one month, a health certificate must be completed and mission immunization taken care of. At the time of admission, parents/ legal guardians must sign a statement giving the school the authority to send that child for appropriate medical assistance in the event of an emergency.
Every admitted child at Khayay Preschool International must present a current passport or birth certificate, and proper evidence of a recent physical examination. They must also provide proof that they have had, or are in the process of completing, all the following immunizations before entering The Khayay School:
- Diphtheria, Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Tetanus (DPT) Triple Vaccine - OPV (Polio) or Injectable Form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- BCG for prevention of Tuberculosis
- Hepatitis A and B
- Typhoid (oral or injectable forms); for oral form, four capsules on alternate days is recommended.
Parent’s Residence and Presence in Yangon
Students may not enroll in The Khayay School unless one parent or an officially appointed guardian is in full-time residence in Yangon.
If, during the school year, both parents plan to leave Yangon while the student remains in attendance at The Khayay School, they should appoint a guardian and notify the school as far in advance as possible by completing the form provided by the office. This is required each time they plan a trip away from Yangon.
Because illness, accidents and unforeseen problems can occur any time, the school asks that the duly appointed guardians live directly with the student to provide adequate care and supervision.
Parents who do not arrange for and inform the school of the student’s supervision and guardianship as indicated above, may jeopardize the child’s continued enrollment at The Khayay School. Please be assured that the school’s concern in this matter is not intended to interfere with the personal responsibilities of parents, but rather is designed to serve the best interests of the children. While a student is attending The Khayay School, the school must be able to contact parents or guardian directly at any time.
